This terrific 20 Minute Microlight Experience takes gift giving to new heights!
Microlighting is one of the most dramatic ways to take to the skies. It’s flying like you have never experienced it before. The microlight takes off, gaining momentum until you experience the eccentric spirit of early aviation, a thrill-seeker's game.
You can sit in the cockpit which allows you to enjoy panoramic views across the open countryside and the sensation of soaring above the ground is always exhilarating. There is simply nothing better than seeing the world slowly fall away beneath you.
There are two main types of microlight, a flex wing which has an open cockpit and a fixed wing which has a closed cockpit; it is more like a miniature plane. You can state which you would prefer to fly in at the time of booking.
Your day will include a thorough briefing from your instructor who will do their best to impart their love of flying to you. You will also learn how to use the dual controls on the microlight and your instructor will show you the routine of pre-flight checks and demonstrate the safest way to get into the microlight itself. Then you will take off, climbing to 1500 feet where the instructor will show you how the controls work. When you are happy with what everything does, you will take over and become pilot yourself.

I have never been scared or nervous when flying in a passenger plane but this was definitely a shock to the system! I arrived at the airfield for midday and the weather was sunny but quite windy, the pilot was there waiting for me and we quickly went to the aircraft to perform the pre-flight checks. The pilot was very informative and this experience was very hands on as I performed most of the checks, these included starting the engine and contacting the radio control tower to get clearance for take-off. Once we were ready the pilot took off, from this point he let me take control of the microlight until landing, he was very calm and explained what each of the controls did, and he even pointed out the local landmarks we were passing. Overall a very nerve racking experience but something I would definitely do again!
