Looking for food to serve up at your next rainbow unicorn party or just to make your Mondays a bit more magical? Look no further! We've come up with the top five unicorn-themed food ideas, and the best news of all is that some of this unicorn food is actually very healthy!

Unicorn Toast

Unicorn Toast

As you can see in the picture above, this is a magical snack fit for a real unicorn. Not only that, but it's super easy to make. Despite appearances, this is a savoury treat made from toast and cream cheese. Simply make a round of toast and divide your cream cheese up into separate small bowls. Add a few drops of food colouring to each bowl and mix well. We used gel colours for a brighter look but this toast also looks magical with paler colours swirling into one another. Mix the food colouring into the cream cheese and then spread onto the toast in lines. You can spread it thinly and blend or go for a chunkier stripier look, like we did. We also added a sprinkle of sugar stars to one corner because the unicorn wanted us to.

Rainbow Pizza

Unicorn Pizza

Absolutely packed with magical vitamins and nutrients, this rainbow pizza is a great way to get kids to eat veg. Start with a pizza base (or make your own) and add a layer of sauce (we just used passata with a little bit of oregano and garlic) and top with finely grated mozzarella cheese. On top of this, add your rainbow of colours in circles starting from the inside and working your way out. We started with red in the middle based on the quantities of the veg that we wanted to include but you could reverse the order to have red at the edge like the top arc of a rainbow. We used tomatoes, orange pepper, sweetcorn, green pepper, broccoli and red onion but other colourful veg would work well. Bake for 10 - 15 minutes and then remove from the oven. The cheese is underneath the veg so you still get that nice cheesy taste without ruining the look of the pizza. For veg-dodging kids, you could add cheese on top to disguise the healthiness of the pizza but it does detract from the look.

Unicorn Tears

Unicorn Tears Juice

We gathered these unicorn tears fresh from the eyes of an innocent unicorn. Of course, we had to torment it a bit first ('You're not real! We don't believe in you!') A cruelty-free way of creating this juice would be to mix lemonade with a pink-coloured mixer - we used sugar free summer fruit squash in an attempt to stem the tide of sugar - and then made that gesture futile by adding glitter sugar (it fizzes when you add the sugar so do it just as you're serving!) We also added a little puff of glitter spray because… well, because unicorns.

Unicorn Fruit Kebabs

These rainbow fruit kebabs are delightfully simple to make, healthy and also make a fantastic food rainbow at a unicorn party. Simply find fruit in the colours of the rainbow and then thread them onto a stick. Easy peasy! We went with strawberries, satsumas, bananas, green grapes, red grapes and a big blackberry but there are lots of things you could try, like mango, melon and even some large blueberries.

Unicorn Food

Unicorn Poop Icecream

Our unicorn-themed ice cream was given this nickname by a friend due to the magical mish mash of sweets, syrups, decorations and ice cream. It looks exactly like something you might find in an enchanted forest when you're tracking unicorns. It is NOT one of the healthier treats (but hey, you need to keep your strength up if you're tracking unicorns). To create, start with a couple of scoops of your favourite vanilla ice cream, dig out all the cake decorations that you can find in your cupboard and then just go nuts. We used raspberry syrup, love heart sweets, pink and white 'princess' baubles, shiny silver balls, hundreds and thousands and pink glitter sugar. Serve in small quantities!
