Hangover Survival Guide
The party season is well on its way! Filled with merry music, boozy games and an abundance of food to fill our bellies, Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year! From the annual work Christmas-do, to partying through the night with your friends, nothing gets you in the festive spirit quite like a Christmas party! Of course, with a party comes alcohol, and with endless rounds of drinks, it's easy to get a little carried away (to the point where you're on the floor wondering how on earth you got there!). There's always one person who says they'll only have one drink, then before you know it, they're dancing on the table. It's all fun and games until you wake up the next morning feeling (and looking) like a zombie!
If you've ever had a few too many, then you'll have suffered a fare few hangovers in your time. While some are far worse than others, no one is immune to a hangover! If you're planning on partying hard this Christmas (aren't we all?), then you'll need some help in surviving the dreaded morning after. That's why we've put together your very own 'survival guide' to get you through the party season in one piece!
So, you've woken up feeling like death? Let us help you face the day!
1. Always keep a bucket by your bed
There's nothing worse than waking up in the morning with a sudden urge to throw up and not making it to the bathroom in time…before you know it you're just lying in your own puke (eww!). Always keep a bucket by your bed as a precaution.
2. Painkillers
That sore head isn't going to just go away on its own! If you're going to make it through the day, you're going to need a few painkillers to make you feel at least a little bit alive.
3. Water, water, water
A little bit of H20 can go a long way! All that alcohol has left you feeling as dehydrated as the Sahara Desert! Combat this by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Keeping hydrated is the best way to get you on the road to recovery.
4. Indulge in a fatty breakfast
You're going to need to soak up all that alcohol somehow, and the best way to do this? A full on, fatty breakfast! I'm talking bacon, sausages, eggs, beans…the whole lot. Nothing livens you up quite like a proper English breakfast! Forget the diet, it is Christmas after all!
5. Avoid people
If you're going to get through this, you're going to have to do it alone. Nobody wants to see you when you feel like death. You're not exactly going to be in the mood for any kind of conversation in that kind of state, so it's best to avoid other humans if you can.
6. Cuddle your pet
Pets on the other hand, might be able to aid you with a cuddle or two! There's something quite soothing about cuddling your furry friends whilst suffering through what feels like the world's worst hangover. After all, they hate to see you like this, just as much as you. They only want to make you better!
7. Keep noises to a minimum
And by minimum, we mean complete and utter silence (at least till 12pm anyway!). That sore, pounding head of yours needs to rest! The last thing you want is having to endure any loud noises whilst your head is spinning around like a merry-go-round.
8. Stay in bed
You may as well admit defeat and stay in bed all day. You're not ready to face the world just yet! It might be your own fault, but it's okay to feel sorry for yourself whilst you're battling the worst hangover known to man. Plus, if you're trying to avoid people, staying in bed is the best way to succeed!
9. Binge on Netflix
Once you've slept as much as you possibly can, soothe your head by binge watching your favourite show.
10. Fresh air
You might not want to go outside, or even leave your bedroom, but some fresh air will do you good! Brave the outdoors (even if it's only to your back garden!).
After suffering yet another dreadful hangover, you'll probably say you'll never drink again…but we all know that's a lie! Hangovers are the worst. But after a day of recuperating, you should be feeling ready to party all over again! Well, perhaps not right away, but you will! And when you do, you'll be prepared. Happy holidays!
