The evening began with a Napoleonic Cavalry Display at around 18:15PM, where you could either relax, sit in your seats and watch on the big screen or walk to the side of the stage to enjoy the mounted skill-at-arms display up close and personal.
Soon, followed by The Red Devils gracing the Proms Concert with a magnificent freefall demonstration at 18:45PM. Approximately, 5 members of The Red Devils jumped from the skies over the concert and landed 20 metres from the side of the stage.
The music began with 'The Vignettes', a duo who sang a range of classic vintage favourites, for old times' sake. Most people were up and dancing at this point, enjoying the music and starting the night off right!
Before the Orchestra commenced, the evening gun salute went off to open the musical programme with the arrival of a Spitfire. Shortly after, the musical programme got into full swing at this point where a large range of classical favourites were played by the New English Concert Orchestra.
The whole evening was presented by Pam Rhodes, who commentated and gave historical background to each section of the evening or song, that was about to take place.
The evening closed around 22:30PM with a spectacular firework display and gave audience members the opportunity to sing-along and wave their English flags in the air. Certainly, a feel-good experience.
This experience is for any anyone who enjoys being outside on a summer's evening with classical music and a bottle of Fizz. Families, couples and friends all joined in the entertainment. The Battle of the Proms is a wonderful experience and as long as the British weather holds out, you will undoubtedly have the best evening all summer.
