With aviation clubs and airfields across the country, and a choice of 30-minute or 60-minute flight durations, there is sure to be a flying lesson perfect for you, or the lucky recipient of this fantastic gift.

If this is intended as a gift, you may get lucky yourself and be able to join in the fun as a passenger! At the discretion of the pilot, depending on the conditions and other aspects, you may be welcomed into the cabin to watch the recipient in action.

The pilot will handle the tricky parts like taking off and landing, but the lucky participant will be taking the controls once up in the air, and will feel the completely unrivalled rush of flying a plane themselves. Nothing beats the feeling of piloting aircraft, and if this is your first time, you’re in for an incredible treat!

Flying classes are usually available on weekdays and weekends throughout the year, subject to favourable weather conditions
Although time slots are allocated please be aware that aircraft lessons are subject to a number of factors which may potentially cause delay to your scheduled time. Whilst every effort will be made to help keep you on time we ask for a degree of latitude owing to the nature of flying, air traffic delays and weather considerations
Minimum age is 14 years old
Under 18s must be accompanied on the airfield by an adult
Height restrictions: minimum 4ft 6ins, maximum 6ft 4ins
Maximum weight is generally 16 stone (some venues may allow higher weight limits, please call to discuss individual requirements)
Please bring two forms of identity including a photo id, e.g. a passport
Flight lessons are all at Civil Aviation Authority approved clubs
Visitors are welcome to come and watch the take off and landing
It may be possible for a friend or family member, who is also interested in flying classes, to sit in the back of the plane and listen in on headphones (min age 14) This is at the discretion of the instructor on the day and subject to weight restrictions. There is currently a charge for this at Blackpool and Cheltenham (Passengers may not currently permitted at some locations due to social distancing restrictions)
