Enjoy a leisurely cycling tour with someone special, led by an expert guide, around the grounds of the stunning Hampton Court Palace.
Hampton Court is the famous home of Henry VIII, so as you can imagine, a lot went on within those walls! Situated on the edge of the Thames, this bike tour is magnificent way to see a beautiful part of London. You’ll be provided with vintage push bikes with bells and baskets and a comfy leather saddle. The bikes are single gear cycles, as the terrain isn’t strenuous. This is about a leisurely cycle around, hearing about the wonderful history of the building and the area.
Your experience begins by meeting at Hampton Court train station, where after a short walk, you’ll get on your bikes and get started! The tour is around 8 miles in distance, but it won’t feel like that with all the excitement going on around you. You’ll venture through the royal parks, the King’s hunting grounds, hear about the Cold War and WW2 history of the area, and of course cycle round the grounds of Hampton Court Palace. There will be a stop at a pub during the tour, if you wanted to buy yourselves a quick drink, or just to rest up a little.
Once the tour is complete, you can leave your bikes at the palace, and if you like, continue to enjoy the beautiful grounds before making your way back out into the City to enjoy the rest of your day.
When in season and during good weather, there is a boat that boards at the palace and goes over to Richmond and Westminster.
This is an incredible way to see a special part of London, a stunning palace and to learn some great tales of British history.

What did you get up to?
The meeting point for the tour was Hampton Court train station, which is a cute little station, located next to the palace. Once our group all arrived it was time to set off and collect our bikes. The tour started behind a pub over the bridge called the Prince of Wales. Each bike had its own royal name ranging from Anne to Henry. The bikes were vintage and had a spacious basket for us to pop our belongings in. Within our group there were 8 people which is the average sized group for the tour. Here is where our guide introduced herself and allowed us to test out the bike, all seats were adjustable to suit our needs.
Hampton Court is located on the edge of Richmond upon Thames due to the fabulous weather the streets were buzzing with people coming to visit the palace. The guide advised us it would be better to walk our bikes over to the palace instead of biking due the busy streets and narrow bridge. As soon as we reached the palace grounds, our guide informed us of where were going during the tour - through the gardens, along Chestnut Avenue, through the parks which were Henry VIII's hunting grounds to the pub for a nice refreshment and back along the palace grounds via a bike trail next to the Thames.
Our guide led the tour, and everyone could go at their own pace, she would stop at different places and wait for everyone to arrive before telling us stories and the history of Hampton court. The ground was flat and easy to bike around however the bikes do take a little getting used too.
The pub is called the White Hart which has a lovely beer garden full of flowers and live music which made for a perfect pit stop. Everyone had time to enjoy the scenery and a much-needed drink before setting off back to Hampton Court whilst riding along the river Thames. The tour ended at the palace where the guide told us about Henry and his many wives. After which we were welcome to spend the day in the grounds or exploring the facilities.
What did you enjoy the most?
We really enjoyed the relaxing pace and seeing sites of London we wouldn't normally get to see. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable to it felt like we came away knowing so much about London's history.

Enjoyable cycle tour
We had great weather for the bike tour. Our guide was friendly and kept us entertained with stories about Bushy Park and Hampton Court. Relaxing pace and just the right length of cycle ride. A good way to see such a vast area. Good communication from Coddiwomple Tours. We took a boat tour back to central London afterwards. Only thing that could have been improved was how activity superstore booked the tour. They insisted on you providing preferred days to them and booking it for you (on a day/time which might not be on your preferred list). Would have been ao much easier for us to be able generate to use a code to book directly on the tour company's website.

Hampton Court Bike Tour
Had a lovely time, guide very knowledgeable and funny. Kept to a good pace so it didn't feel like eight miles. Beautiful location. But would have been nice to have had a basket on the bikes

Great Tour
We were very fortunate on this tour, as the weather was beautiful for late October.
Our guide was very informative and pointed out various historical and other facts.
We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the grounds and the deer in the park, as well as the nicely time pub stop.
Highly recommended

Hampton ct bike tour
we had an enjoyable couple of hours on the bikes. Enjoyed the route around Hampton ct palace. We had a pub stop which was nice but could of done with about 10mins more quite a quick break before moving on again. The tour guide was excellent and the talk she gave about Hampton ct was very good.
